Daily Devotion - Look To The Sea
"The struggle against the sea is an act of physical combat, and there is no escape."
Continuing on in our brief series, we will look to the things of creation in order to better understand the God who made them. For millennia, humans have had a storied yet often perilous relationship with the sea, relying upon it for food and transport on the one hand, while fighting tirelessly to survive amidst its power, fury, and hostility to human life on the other. Many would say their worst fear is being “lost at sea,” or stranded in open water. There is something about the ocean that leaves us deeply unsettled, disturbed, and anxious.
Morning Prayer: “O Lord, our heavenly Father, almighty and everlasting God, you have brought us safely to the beginning of this day: defend us by your mighty power, that we may not fall into sin nor run into any danger; and that, guided by your Spirit, we may do what is righteous in your sight; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.”
